Variety in the content of Pashto Short story

Abstract

Pashto short story is a modern literary prose genre, the first Pashto short story Shledali Panna (Tears shoe) is published in 1913 which has written by Said Rahat Zakhili, since the beginning of short story we reveal that there are some changes and development in the context of Pashto short story, thus I found that the Pashto short story is reviewed in three historical periods that indicates the development and variations of its contents, themes and characters as bellow: (1917 to 1948) This period covered the contents such as ethics, social beliefs, tragedy, criticizing the worst culture, conflict between cruel and oppressed, the economy and ethnic discrimination among the lower and upper level people in the Pashtun society. (1989 to 1982) This period is a golden and historical movement in the contents of Pashto short story, Social life has been changed by the revolution and political struggling, freedom, free thought, equality, education, politics and economy added in the contents of Pashto short story, in addition the sexual short stories invented too, and a huge number of writers including women writers started to write Pashto short stories. (1983 up to date) it is has been a flue of contents diversity in the Pashto short story, in fact it is mostly conveying the messages war and its impacts since the 1979, fighting’s, immigrations, unfortunates, poverty , religious fuss with a slight repetition of the first and second periods contents. In addition the symbolic short story has been started in this period.
