Index of Research in Pakistani Languages and Literature (IRPLL) is a joint venture of the Higher Education of Pakistan and Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad. This service is being provided under the thematic research grant project called Establishing Abstracting and Indexing Agency for Abstracting and Indexing of Academic Journals of Pakistani Languages (Balochi, Brahui, Pashto, Punjabi, Saraiki, Sindhi). The project started in December 2018 to support research in Pakistani languages. This index brings together all the research conducted in five Pakistani languages including Balochi, Brahui, Pashto, Punjabi and Sindhi. It only includes the HEC recognized journals as they are already meeting the minimum academic standards to publish research in languages and literature. These journals were collected by writing official letters to the editors requesting them to provide soft copies of their journal issues. After the collection of data, a dedicated website was created for the Index of Research in Pakistani Languages and Literature. The collected data was organized language-wise and not only the complete papers were placed on the website, but their abstracting and theme- and author-wise indexing was also done. Some of the abstracts were adopted in their original form, some were editing for the purposes of clarity and brevity, some were re-written while in some cases new abstracts were written in the light of the article. At the completion of the first phase of the project, eleven different journals belonging to five different languages have been indexed and placed on IRPLL website.
